My Favourite Dragon Ball Super Moments (Part-II)

Alright, first of all, I'm sorry for not posting anything here for quite some time. I was a little busy organizing an event at school and covering up everything that was done in class.

With that out of the way, I present to you my favourite Dragon Ball Super moments - Part 2.
In this part, we'll focus on the Future Trunks Saga.

Future Trunks is one of my favourite characters in Dragon Ball history. He's the son of future Vegeta and future Bulma. He is a caring, pure-hearted half-Sayajin who is ready to do anything to save the ones he loves. We have been introduced to his characteristic traits in different ways from his introduction in Dragon Ball Z to his farewell in Dragon Ball Super. The Future Trunks Saga further develops this amazing character and is therefore, one of my favourite sagas in Dragon Ball.

1. Future Bulma's Death:

In the alternate timeline, Future Trunks is running and hiding from a mysterious being, causing destruction all over with its ki blasts. He enters a building and meets with his mother, Future Bulma, who is working on an experiment, and is relieved that Future Trunks is well. Future Bulma is working on the Time Machine, and has prepared enough fuel for a one-way trip to the past, betting that there will be another way a round-trip can be made. Future Trunks offers to take the fuel back to Capsule Corporation, and tells Future Bulma to rest, but Future Bulma insists on coming with him, in case "that guy" attacks. As they prepare to leave, an explosion is made close to them, which destroys Future Bulma's equipment. Future Bulma sees something coming, and gives Future Trunks the fuel and tells him to go, before a mysterious being grabs Future Bulma. Future Bulma tells Trunks to hurry, when the mysterious being charges a Ki Blast and blows up the building, which kills Future Bulma. Future Trunks, promising to save this world, flees while more explosions are made.

This scene is a real shocker and sets the stage for the entire arc. To see Trunks' mother killed in front of his own eyes really hits home, especially considering the fact that she is the only one who's always been there for Future trunks.

2. Goku Black Appears:

Future Trunks informs future Mai about Bulma's death and decides to stay with her for a little while. Future Trunks and Future Mai are shown eating and resting, discussing about going back 17 years in the past, where Future Trunks' friends are, as he reminisces the events. They then make their way to Capsule Corporation, wary about their surroundings. A giant vortex appears in the sky, and Future Trunks tells Future Mai to go on ahead as he draws his sword. Future Trunks engages in battle against "the guy" who killed his mother, but is defeated. Future Mai gives Future Trunks the fuel and she offers to be the decoy, as Future Trunks needs to survive. Future Mai is hit with a Ki Blast, seemingly killing her. An angered Future Trunks then glares at the enemy, Black, who tells Future Trunks that today is the day he will take his final breath. Trunks is dumbfounded when he sees Goku, the protagonist of the story, with an evil grin across his face.

I love this scene because it adds an element of suspense in the story. It makes the viewers think about what Goku is doing in the future timeline and why he killed Bulma, his best and oldest friend.

3. Goku Versus Black & Zamasu:

A little later in the arc, we see Goku fight both Black and Zamasu (Universe 10 Supreme Kai's apprentice). The Goku Black fight takes place when Goku Black decides to visit Trunks and the other Z-Fighters in the present timeline. The fight against Zamasu takes place when Whis, Beerus and Goku decide to visit universe 10's Supreme Kai, Gowasu, to get some information about Goku Black. Goku being Goku, requests Zamasu for a fight and they decide to spar against Zamasu's will.

What I like about both of these fights is the fact that Goku uses Super Saiyajin 2, a transformation which he didn't use very frequently both in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. To see one of my favourite transformations in action made these fights interesting to watch in spite of them not being as action-filled as some of the fights we had seen in the previous arcs.

4. Vegeta Training Trunks:

In the meanwhile, Vegeta wants to test Future Trunks' power to see how strong his son had become. He invites Trunks to spar with him. When Trunks asks Vegeta to use SSJ3 as Goku did against him in a previous fight, Vegeta grins and decides to use SSJ Blue. Vegeta, knowing that Trunks does not hold a candle to his latest transformation, challenges Trunks hit him once. Trunks, accepting the challenge decides to use the slow Ultra SSJ transformation. This angers Vegeta and he charges towards Trunks. However, Trunks turns back into an SSJ and it is revealed that Trunks transformed into that sluggish form just to bait Vegeta. Vegeta then continues to beat up Future Trunks (just some casual father-son bonding). However, Future Trunks finds this rather reassuring. Knowing how powerful Vegeta and Goku have become, he is certain that Goku Black will not be much of a threat. Vegeta is disappointed and angry with Future Trunks. Vegeta believes that Saiyajins should continually strive to grow stronger and not only when enemies present themselves. Bulma interrupts the fight and as Vegeta turns to leave, Trunks bows at Vegeta to express his gratitude.

I love this scene as it reminds me of the time Vegeta and Trunks spent in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber back in Dragon Ball Z. Vegeta's speech to Trunks is absolutely on-point and this fight helps motivate Trunks and revive in him the zeal to fight for his loved ones.

5. The Debut Of Super Saiyajin Rosé:

When Goku, Vegeta and Trunks go back to the future to fight Black, he is seen embracing the bleak world, saying that his utopia is almost here as he has to deal with the rest of the humans. Vegeta fires a ki blast in the air in order to inform Goku Black of their location, and Goku Black uses the light to confront them. Goku Black says that he thought he destroyed the time machine, as Vegeta immediately transforms into a Super Saiyan Blue to do battle. Future Trunks notes Goku Black's unsurprised expression, wondering if Goku Black has seen the form somewhere before. Goku Black applauds Vegeta, telling him that he must have trained well to ascend to such a level, teleporting in front of Vegeta without the Saiyan prince instantly reacting. Vegeta, surprised, realizes that Goku Black is far stronger than when he last fought with Goku. Vegeta then prepares to assault Goku Black, launching him far away with a barrage of hard punches. Vegeta knocks Goku Black into the ground and further assaults him, but Goku Black, unaffected by the attacks, smirks at Vegeta, who suddenly senses something. Goku Black then kicks Vegeta hard, knocking him back to where Goku and Future Trunks are standing. Goku Black compliments Vegeta's ability, then prepares to show the Saiyans something as he powers up, revealing his new transformation, Super Saiyajin Rosé.

Goku Black reveals that he has fully mastered Goku's powers and that he is now at a level above the Saiyans. Vegeta reminds Goku Black that he is his opponent and attacks him again, catching one of Goku Black's punches and preparing to punch him. Vegeta is then stabbed clean through the chest from an Energy Blade from Goku Black. As Vegeta is knocked out and falls to the ground, Goku Black calls him the "appetizer to the "opening course". Noting that the "appetizer" made him stronger, he will then take care of the "main dish" (referring to Goku) and rise to greater heights.

I absolutely love the dialogue and the execution of this scence, especially in the English Dub. I was actually extremely surprised to see Black's new transformation as I didn't expect him to transform into a new form of SSJ. I was extremely intrigued to see a form so different yet so appealing and powerful.

6. Trunks' SSJ Rage Transformation:

Goku Black and Future Zamasu recall Future Trunks constantly going back and forth in time, continuously breaking the taboo of Gods, and that the creation of a new Time Ring is the proof of his sins. They recall Future Trunks saving Goku's life from the Heart Virus, saying that if he had died as history decided, Zamasu would not have sought Goku's body. They also mention Future Trunks destroying the Androids, as his actions caused the current events and that everything is his fault. Future Trunks grows angry at their words and Vegeta tells him not to listen to them. Future Trunks powers up and assaults Goku Black, but he is easily repelled and defeated while Vegeta is held back by Future Zamasu. Seeing this, Future Mai rushes for Future Trunks, with Bulma and Future Yajirobe following her. They are stopped by Future Trunks angrily punching the ground, and as he grows more and more angry, he begins to power up into a new Super Saiyan form never seen before, Super Saiyan Rage, surprising everyone. With his new bulky appearance, huge power, and loss of his pupils, Future Trunks declares he will kill Goku Black.

I honestly don't need to explain why I love this scene. I love it because this scene reminds us of what a half-Saiyajin is capable of.

7. Beerus' Hakai:

After Goku's visit to the future, Whis, Beerus and Goku decide to visit Universe 10 to check what present Zamasu was up to. We see Gowasu enjoying his tea with some delicacies from earth. As Gowasu is eating, Zamasu decides to murder Gowasu and steal his time ring, just like his future-self did. Zamasu manages to kill Gowasu, but Whis does a temporal do-over and reverses time to prevent Zamasu from killing Gowasu. The group then interferes and confronts Zamasu. Zamasu exclaims how he's proud of his future-self and says that he cannot fall in a place like this. He attacks Goku, who takes up a fighting stance. However, Beerus effortlessly intercepts the attack and tells Zamasu that he's out of luck. He says,"Hakai.", disintegrating Zamasu completely and wiping him out of existence.

This scene is one of my favourite scenes in Dragon Ball Super as it reminds us of the power of a God Of Destruction and why you should never mess with one. The voice acting in this scene in both the dub and the sub sent chills down my spine. This is also one of Beerus' most badass moments in the show.

8. Goku's Rage Against Zamasu:

Goku is often potrayed as a careless husband and father. He likes to spend his time training rather than spending time with Chichi and Goten. However, when Black informs Goku that he stole his body and killed him, his wife and his younger son with his own hands, we get to see a side of Goku which we rarely do. Goku becomes absolutely livid and calls Black a "monster". He then proceeds to charge up his ki in a furious manner and beat up Black and Zamasu with all his might.

I love this scene as it redeems Goku and shows how much he really cares about Chichi and Goten. This is also one of the most action-filled sequences in the series. Moreover, I love the attack Black unleashes after getting a severe beating by Goku.

9. Vegeta's Rematch Against Black:

After getting beaten up by Black, Vegeta decides to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to increase his power. He spends half a day in the chamber before returning to the alternate timeline to defeat Black. Vegeta decides to fight Goku Black, saying that since he is superior to the real Goku, he won't lose to a counterfeit.

As the two pairs start fighting, Goku Black immediately realizes Vegeta's increased strength and is being pushed back by the Saiyan prince. Future Zamasu, surprised by this, tries to help Goku Black but Goku focuses on preventing the corrupt Kaioshin from helping. Bulma takes the opportunity to bring out a garage from a capsule, saying she will repair the time machine in no time. Future Trunks and Future Mai appear, and Bulma is relieved to see Future Trunks is okay. She then hands Future Trunks some super glue, saying he can fix the urn as he was good at jigsaw puzzles. As Vegeta is blocking every one of Goku Black's attacks and assaulting him relentlessly, he says that he, as the prince of Saiyans, will not lose to a fake who stole the body of Goku, who he himself developed that body from fighting in many fierce battles. As he pulls up Goku Black by his hair and knocks him back, Vegeta powers up as he calls Goku Black a fake.

I love this scene solely because of Vegeta's speech to Black and how he acknowledges Goku as a battle-hardened warrior. Moreover, it's extremely satisfying to see Vegeta beat up Black after being absolutely destroyed by him a few episodes ago.

10. Goku Beats Merged Zamasu:

After Black and Zamasu fuse into Merged Zamasu, it seems that all hope is lost for the Z-Fighters. Merged Zamasu overpowers Trunks and Vegeta and the only one left to fight him is Goku. Goku decides to use his signature move, the Kamehameha to beat Zamasu. Goku is in an intense Energy Clash, clashing with Fused Zamasu's Holy Wrath with his own God Kamehameha. When Goku is being overpowered, he uses his full power to push the attack back at Fused Zamasu. The refugees and soldiers of Earth's Resistance are cooped up in Bulma's garage, and Future Mai notices Maki holding Future Trunks' discarded sword. Goku is successful at pushing Fused Zamasu's attack back, but as a result he cannot use either one of his arms due to the strain. Goku then notices Fused Zamasu, gaining a purple devil-like appearance on the right side of his face. Regardless, Goku attacks Fused Zamasu with a barrage of kicks, and Fused Zamasu catches Goku's left foot and crushes it, but Goku uses his Kaio-ken to kick Fused Zamasu to the ground with his free leg. Goku immediately powers down and falls to the ground greviously injured.

I love this scene as it displays the extent of Goku's power. Moreover, the kicks Goku unleashes after his arms become too sore to use are actually some of the best I've seen in any anime.

11. Vegito Emerges:

After getting beaten by Merged Zamasu, Goku suggests using Potara so he and Vegeta can fuse, and Vegeta is completely against the idea, but soon realizes they have no other options. Vegeta reluctantly accepts the Potara earring and he and Goku eat a Senzu Bean. Goku asks Gowasu how come he and Vegeta split before when he was told the effects of Potara are permanent, and Gowasu explains that those who fuse that are not Supreme Kai will only stay fused for one hour. Vegeta and Goku, with one hour left to finish things, put on the earrings, and they fuse, and Vegito emerges.

Immediately after fusing, Vegito transforms into a Super Saiyan Blue, dubbing himself "Vegito Blue". Fused Zamasu fires a Holy Wrath at Vegito, who easily dissipates it, much to the corrupt God's shock. Vegito punches Fused Zamasu as he begins to once again lecture about gods and mortals, and Vegito challenges Fused Zamasu to squash him. The two then proceed to fight an intense battle, creating havoc and destruction in the surrounding area.

I love this scene because Vegito, one of the most popular and loved Dragon Ball characters, emerges for the first time in Dragon Ball Super. I was excruciatingly hyped when I saw the episode preview for Vegito Blue. Vegito Blue is one of the most powerful characters in Dragon Ball History, even if the transformation is short-lived.

12. Trunks Defeats Zamasu:

After Vegito un-fuses (de-fuses? Whatever.) Trunks decides to take matters into his own hands and defeat Zamasu once and for all. Trunks collects power from everyone that is left on earth into his sword and decides to fight Zamasu.Future Trunks states that he doesn't regret his weakness and begins to push Fused Zamasu back. As he declares that mortals work together and survive, his will to survive creates a giant, bright light around the fight scene. Haru & Maki, the soldiers of Earth's Resistance, Future Yajirobe, the refugees, Future Scratch, Future Android 8, Future Turtle, Bulma, and Future Mai all begin to be enveloped by the same light. A huge energy sphere appears in the sky, similar to the Spirit Bomb, and Future Trunks realizes it's the light from the energy of everyone on Earth. Future Trunks' sword of ki begins to glow from the light, and Goku and Vegeta give their remaining energy to Future Trunks, powering him up even further. Fused Zamasu attacks Future Trunks, but Future Trunks evades and takes to the air, where he absorbs the energy sphere and empowers his sword into a stronger form, resembling a large cleaver. Future Trunks then fights Fused Zamasu and stabs him with the sword before cleaving him in two.

I love this scene as it shows the extent of Trunks' power. It was also extremely satisfying to see Trunks defeat Zamasu after all that he had done.

13. Trunks' Goodbye:

After the events of the Goku Black Arc, future Trunks and future Mai decide to go to an alternate timeline and live peacefully. It's really, really hard to say goodbye to a character like future Trunks after such a fulfilling and amazing saga. The way Trunks bids farewell to Vegeta and Gohan pushed me close to tears.

The scene where Trunks sees Future Gohan in Gohan's present self was one of the most perfectly executed scenes in the entirety of Dragon Ball. It was an amazing throwback to Dragon Ball Z and I love the fact that Trunks still considers Gohan as his true mentor.

This scene was without a doubt, a phenomenal ending to an amazing arc.

Thank you for reading and have a great day ahead!
