One Of My Favourite Characters In Video Games: Jin Kazama (Tekken)
Jin Kazama: The Child Of Destiny
So, I absolutely love playing Tekken. It's one of the best video games franchises that I've come across and has some absolutely outstanding Characters. My favourite Tekken character is Jin Kazama.
Jin Kazama made his debut in Tekken 3. He is the son of Kazuya Mishima and Jun Kazama. The former was killed by his own father, Heihachi Mishima in Tekken 2 and the latter disappeared while fighting a monster called 'Ogre' soon after the events of Tekken 2.
After his mother's death, Jin was taken up and trained by Heihachi. Eighteen years later, Heihachi declared the 'King Of The Iron Fist Tournament III' and Jin decided to fight his mother's "killer", Ogre. Paul Phoenix had already defeated Ogre, however, he left just before Ogre transformed into 'True Ogre'. Since Jin was a skilled warrior, he managed to defeat True Ogre, who disintegrated soon after his defeat. Just as he was about to leave, Jin was confronted by Heihachi, who had brought some Tekken Force soldiers along with him to kill Jin. Jin was shot multiple times and collapsed, however, a strange change occurred in Jin and he transformed into 'Devil Jin'. Devil Jin overpowered Heihachi and the soldiers, slammed the former into a wall and flew away.
The Struggle Against The 'Devil Gene'
Jin had inherited something known as the 'Devil Gene' from his father, Kazuya Mishima. Jin, however, started to loathe the Mishima bloodline after his betrayal by his grandfather and had decided to train and end the bloodline once and for all. He went to Australia, un-learned the Mishima Fighting Style and trained in traditional karate mixed with Kazama fighting style's elements. Two years later, Heihachi declared another tournament as Kazuya had been resurrected by 'G-Corp'. Heihachi wanted to lure in Jin and Kazuya, steal their powers and attain the devil gene.
Jin won many battles and while he was on his way to fight Kazuya, he was kidnapped by the Tekken Force soldiers and was taken to the 'Hon-Maru' compound.
There, he fought both Heihachi and Kazuya in succession and defeated them. He was about to turn into Devil Jin and finish them off, but something prevented him from doing so. He saw an illusion of his mother, Jun Kazama and decided to leave Heihachi and Kazuya to fight another day. However, the compound was ambushed by the Jack Robots created by 'G-Corp', which lead to Heihachi getting seriously injured.
The Devil Gene Tattoo Which Appears On Jin's Left Arm. |
Jin started experiencing nightmares soon after his fight with Kazuya and Heihachi. He decided that he needs to get rid of the devil gene in him. A little while later, Jin learnt about the 'King Of The Iron Fist Tournament V', which was declared by someone known as 'Jinpachi Mishima'. Jinpachi, Jin's great grandfather, was trapped under the 'Hon-Maru' compound by Heihachi. However, the explosion caused by the Jacks at the compound awakened Jinpachi and he wanted someone to challenge him.
Jin beats Jinpachi and takes control of the 'Mishima Zaibatsu' (Heihachi's company).
Jin then goes after an ancient beast called 'Azazel' to get rid of the devil gene. He charges head on into Azazel. Azazel is absolutely destroyed but Jin fails to get rid of the devil that lies within him. Jin is knocked unconscious and remains so throughout Tekken 7.
However, after Tekken 7's credits, this amazing scene is played:
I honestly hope that Jin kills Kazuya in Tekken 8.
The Bottom Line
The reason why I like Jin is because he is Tekken's epitome of 'absolute strength'. This guy beat True Ogre, who had killed many battle-hardened warriors throughout the world, beat Kazuya and Heihachi in succession and spared them despite his hatred against his predecessors. He beat Jinpachi, who was possessed by a vengeful ghost and beat Azazel, who was probably ten times Jin's height.
Moreover, Jin does not revel in his devil power. The Devil Gene gives an apparent power boost to the user when he transforms. However, Jin doesn't like to tap into this power until things go south and he is forced to do so.
And there it is folks, that's my summary of Jin Kazama. I'll just leave a little wallpaper I made for my PC here, if any of you want to download it:
Thank you for reading and have a great day ahead!
